Sunny’s is the kind of place you visit on a lazy Sunday, where you can have a nice European brunch
Situated on Lavelle Road, the place is spacious, lovely and charming visited by the rich and famous too! Down to the food now.
For starters you could have their lovely salads or the melt in your mouth quiches. We pigged out on three starters – Spinach and Mushroom quiche, Squid rings and Honeyed Chicken wings.
While the quiche was exquisite and the squid rings nothing to write home about, the honeyed chicken wings were absolutely delicious. Like the name suggests it was sweet, but the sauce was delicious. They serve lemon with it so you can squeeze the juice on the sauce and get a tangy flavour as well. You might have a tough time being neat while trying to gorge on the wings with your bare hands!
The quantity of the main course here is very generous compared to other such places in the city. There is a variety of Pastas and Pizzas you could choose from. But we stayed away from that.
You could go for the Chicken Paillard with Pesto Cream and Balsamic Vinegar. Four slices of thinly filleted chicken breasts with lovely pesto cream. We ordered the grilled lamb chops (we asked for it to be well done). Although there are no complaints on the taste, the sauce again being as delicious as one would expect, the lamb chops were probably a bit too well done. As mentioned, the quantity was really generous with four fairly big lamb chops. We ordered a Greek Salad with Grilled Shrimp and Chicken along with the main course. It washed down the sauce of the chops very well. The dressing on the salad was just perfect.
For dessert we had the Blueberry Crème Brûlée. It was flavourful and sinful at the same time. They have a good dessert menu and you can also take a look at most of them at the dessert counter inside the restaurant.
The food is pricey but generous in quantity and lovely in taste. The service too, does not disappoint. The cocktails are very expensive. We had a Kiwi Daiquiri (Rs. 525) and a mocktail – Sunny’s Surprise (Rs. 425). The latter was too sweet.
Highly recommended place if you want to have a good meal with family or friends and don’t mind a big pinch in your pocket.
