It had been quite a while since we had something new and refreshing in the Continental Cuisine.

We had recently heard about a new eatery named Grubbery located in Deralakatte bang opposite Yenepoya University. The distance always was a turn off but today we decided to tread on the road less travelled. And did it make all the difference? Read on.

The first thing that swept us off our feet was their tagline. It read “Grubbery – Always Hungry” which is exactly what we always are – HUNGRY!

The Interiors are modern and plush with ambient lighting.

As we glanced through the menu, it was a very tough choice as everything seemed so damn good.

For starters we first ordered Veg Tempura and Fish Tempura, the Veg consists of exotic and regular veggies, batter fried with a twist. The fish is Basa of course severed with Tartar sauce. The crust was very crisp and not soggy and when dipped it the Tartar it tastes wonderful. Next were the Chicken n Cheese Croquettes, perfect mixture of chicken with little blasts of cheese, tastes even better when dipped into their house Sweet Chilli Sauce. Another Veg starter was Paneer Skewers in Peanut sauce which didn’t have much flavour to it but when combined with the peanut sauce the game definitely changed.

Then we moved on to the soup. First was the Vegetable Broth, it sounded quite simple but tasted exotic. Then we tried the Fisherman’s soup, this soup is one a kind with a Thai touch to it and the coconut milk definitely adds a kick.

We then moved on to the main course. First up was the Veg Paprika Pasta, this was a definitely something different and isn’t over spiced too. It was made perfect with the right amount of Chilli and White sauce. Next up was Nasi Lemak which was made perfect according to Malaysian standards with the right amount of anchovies and the perfect amount of Rendang sauce . But the prize would be taken by the Chicken Pepper sauce steak. A huge succulent piece, grilled to perfection served with mashed potatoes, garlic bread and exotic veggies. Once can fill you up pretty much.

At the end of it all we were very satisfied and just as we were about to leave we flipped the menu over and realised they have so many other dishes including All Day Breakfasts like Omelettes, Pancakes etc and other Oriental dishes too.

Everything is very decently priced from Rs 120-200 keeping in mind the student population in the area. Hence we can safely say that this place won’t burn a hole in your pocket.

Ultimately, Grubbery will leave you always hungry and The 3 Hungry Men are definitely coming back to for some more refreshing and VFM food. Grubbery also has plans to open up a Franchised Outlet in Mangalore City and Manipal as well, all we could do is wait or plan a drive with your buddies to their first outlet in Deralakatte.

Do let us know what you like here too!

Grubbery also gives out Franchises, for more information about Grubbery and for bookings please contact Mr. Rahul Sherigar on: +91 97-420-333-94
