After much recommendation, T3HM headed out to Palkhi. One just can’t miss the huge signboard next to K.M.C at Jyothi Circle. As we entered Palkhi we were appalled by the choices of seating available.

You can either head to the rooftop for a romantic candlelit dinner accompanied by a panoramic view of downtown Mangalore. Or you can head straight in and opt for the smoking/ non smoking option. In case you have a big group/family, you can opt for the conference/party hall.

The ambience is very calm and soothing, we hoped the food was the same.

We started of with some soup and drinks. We all had a Cottage cheese with spinach soup (after the waiter vouched for its goodness) and ladies and gentlemen, this soup is LEGENDARY! One of the best vegetarian soups we have ever had! Down to drinks we ordered a couple of mocktails like the Oreo Blast, pretty princess and the pride of Palkhi. The Pretty Princess was not as pretty as it seemed, the concoction went wrong and was slightly disappointing but it was all covered up by The Pride Of Palkhi and The Oreo Blast which were churned out of excellent proportions and were full marks on taste and quantity.

Starters then followed which consisted of a Palkhi signature dish i.e The Chicken Chatpata, Veg Chinese Toast, Pomfret Tava Fry and Prawns Butter Garlic. The chicken chatpata was a unique creation with various chat masalas and spices a must try for every one. The veg chinese toast was tasty but similar to the Veg. Gold Coin. The fish here is award winning, the pomfret was prepared so delicately and with a right amount of spice for the prefect taste, the same goes for the prawns Butter garlic.

Since the starts had a good quantity we went a bit light on the Main course. We called for a chicken kali mirch, methi mutter masala and aloo methi pulav along with some assorted indian breads.

The chicken kali mirch was a good preparation but what deserved real mention was the vegetarian preparations! The methi mutter masala and the aloo methi pulav were so tasty it almost had us licking the plates clean! These two dishes are a must try we say! The accompaniments too were good which consisted of the baby kulcha, cheese naan and the Reshmi paratha (you can give this one a pass!)

Deserts too were good. We had a caramel custard, gulab Jamun and gajar ka halwa which was not to sweet, just the way we like it.

All in all Palkhi was a wholesome experience, those kind of places where the most of the things you eat or order will be good. No wonder Palkhi has 17 years of experience in making the best traditional and authentic food!
