This review has been long due and it is definitely worth the wait because we have reviewed this place extensively over the past few months trying out many dishes and ultimately coming to a conclusion.

For long Mangalorean’s wanted something new and when we say long we mean atleast 3 years. People were bored of frequenting the typical pubs every weekend.

Along came Spindrift – BrewPub with a bang that came as a huge respite. For the record, it is Mangalore’s first and only micro brewery. Then again we don’t review beer per se, food was what we were eyeing out.

To describe the ambience, you can easily say that it’s one of a kind, spread out over 10,000 square feet with a rustic and sort of industrial look. Definitely unique.

Moving on to food. We first tried the Sea food Chowder & Tomato Soup. Both were excellent. Especially the Seafood Chowder as it was so thick and creamy, doused with seafood.

We had quite a few starters, the Mexican Baked Potato is a must try for the Vegetarians. The Beer batter Fish n Chips as well as Calamari are worth the try here as the beer coating definitely gives this dish an edge. The Dynamite prawns are world class. You can even give the Nachos a shot. The starter that really stood out was the Chicken Wings. They have a good selection of wings and we strongly recommend the Firecracker Wings for the Spice lovers and the BBQ Wings for a milder flavour

On to deserts, what really surprised us was the Creme Brulee, perfectly complete with the Crack! (True dessert lovers will know what we mean). The Panacottas are great too.

We were content and happy, finally Mangalore had a new fantastic place to chill out with good food to complement it and a good range of craft beers and ofcourse a wide range of drinks and cocktails. They also keep adding new dishes to the menu so watch out for them. Consider your weekends sorted!

They also keep having Sunday brunches, live performances and Barbecues. Watch out for their events!

So we would like to conclude saying that if you haven’t already been there, you must. Spindrift is a life saver!

P.S: We don’t review beer but we have received mixed reviews about their brews. They keep having a good variety of beers on tap ranging from Ales to Lagers and even Stouts. The only way to find out is to go and try it yourself. But don’t worry we will soon have an expert in Beer Tasting to come down and help us give you all an expert opinion. Tales Of Froth to the rescue!

PPS: on weekends they get very crowded, make sure you reserve a table in advance as they don’t allow people to stand inside (which is a very good thing).
